Why CD's rather than printed copies? For one thing, we can use color images in a CD. Also a CD costs us less to produce and to ship. So you pay less.

Tutorial Series Original tutorials prepared by the same people who wrote many of the National Camera lesson materials as well as many service guides, repair manuals, Camera Craftsman articles, SPT Journals, and Fargo Enterprise manuals. Topics that say they're for Windows™ (purple type) include a menu to make the CD easier to navigate (see the example at the bottom of this page—the menus don't all work exactly like this one, but each one facilitates finding your way around in the CD) . The other CD's just contain the PDF files that only require Acrobat Reader™.  Click here for a sample PDF from the Synchro-Compur 00-MXV CD. The sample may be slightly different than the page in the actual CD because we've replaced the TIF's with JPEG's for faster loading.

Collectors' Series Several years ago, National Camera started providing factory repair & parts manuals on microfiche—this made it affordable for independent technicians to own the factory manuals. Since the CD has nearly replaced the microfiche as a medium for storing information, we are now converting our microfiche library to CD (but we still provide the microfiche if that's your preference). Please note that many PDF's of factory manuals are available for free download from sites such as Favorite Classics (see our links page). We do not make CD's of current products or of manuals that are still available from the manufacturers. National Camera originally arranged to duplicate factory manuals for the microfiche program.

Our scans were made and retouched in-house from the original factory printed manuals—not from the microfiche. Rather than using the bookmarks, we've added contents pages to some CD's that key to the thumbnails (unless the page numbers already match the thumbnails). You can then quickly access a page by using the Go To Page command or by clicking on a thumbnail.Or, those that say they're for Windows™ (purple type) include a menu to make the CD easier to navigate (see the example at the bottom of this page—the menus don't all work exactly like this one, but each one facilitates finding your way around in the CD) . The other CD's just contain the PDF files that only require Acrobat Reader™.  Note that these are factory service manuals—not do-it-yourself books. They were written for camera-repair technicians.  Several CD's include instructional materials from the National Camera archives; these materials, when included, are described in green type.

Nikon F Photomic Finders FTN and TN. Two manuals for the Photomic Finders used on the Nikon F. The FTN manual is the first revision of the Nikon manual which has early and new illustrations (56 pages, counting the cover and contents pages). Contains exploded drawings, service instructions, lubrication, and illustrated parts lists. The manual for the Photomic-TN (40 pages, counting the cover and contents pages) required quite a bit of reconstruction. There isn't a parts section, but the manual does have good service and troubleshooting information (parts aren't available anyway). The CD also includes instructions from the NatCam archives which describe disassembly and procedures for retaining adjustments (4 pages). Written by a former National Camera instructor. The factory manuals are also provided on microfiche. For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista.

$9.50

NICD103

Nikon F2. Includes the Nikon F2 Factory Service Manual (32 pages counting contents pages) and the Nikon F2 Factory Parts Manual (86 pages counting contents pages). Both are illustrated with color photos. For the National Camera article on the Nikon F2, see, Short Technical Articles (#97 & #98). Color wiring pictorial.  The factory manuals are also provided on microfiche. For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista.

NICD104

Nikon Photomic Finders DP-1, DP-2, DP-3. Three Photomic Finders for the Nikon F2. The DP-1 manual (32 pages) is mostly a parts manual. But it does include good exploded drawings as well as the release-lever modification. The DP-2 manual (32 pages service, 34 pages parts) and the DP-3 manual (42 pages service, 35 pages parts) feature valuable service information including troubleshooting and schematics. The manuals are provided individually on microfiche.

NICD105 Nikkormat FTN, FT2. Two factory service & parts manuals plus two articles from the National Camera archives. The FTN manual (79 pages counting parts and contents pages) includes disassembly and repair instructions with the exploded drawings. The FT2, basically an FTN with a hot shoe, was the next-to-last camera in the Nikkormat series (later replaced by the FT3, basically an FT2 that accepts AI lenses). The manual has 40 pages service 46 pages parts counting covers and contents pages). Color wiring pictorials. Some pages have very light type—we reset the type for three of the pages we felt were difficult to read. We've also omitted pages that were duplicated in Japanese. Both manuals include troubleshooting. The NatCam articles provide the FTN exposure-meter adjustments (one page, one pic) as well as disassembly for the FTN and FT2 (two pages, one pic). The manuals are provided individually on microfiche. For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista. See Craftsman for the National Camera article on the Nikkormat series.

Here's an example of one menu route to finding where that red wire goes (this is the menu from the Minolta XE CD). First we select Service Manual from the main menu. Note: Only the CD's marked, "For Windows... "use the menus. In this example, we get the service-manual submenu. Now we select Wiring Pictorial. Of course the actual menus and PDF's are much sharper (and much larger). We shot these menus from the screen. Now we've located the wiring pictorial. We can make it smaller to see the entire page. Or zoom in on the section we want. If we open Thumbnails, a red frame shows us the area of the complete page that we're viewing.
